Nova Scotia is a well known and popular destination for hunters who wish to pursue white tailed deer, black bear, Canada geese, ducks, and upland game such as pheasants and ruffled grouse.
Hunting seasons are:
- Bear – September 11 to December 2
- Deer (Bow) – September 30 to October 26 and December 4 to December 9
- Deer (Rifle) – October 27 to December 2
- Upland Game – October 1 to December 15
- Rabbit – November 1 to the last day of February
- Moose (open to residents only) – September 25 to September 30, October 2 to October 7 and December 12 to December 14.
All seasons excluding Sundays.

A licence for bear hunting for non-residents costs $120.68 HST included.
